Jugando a los colores. Playing colours.

As a holiday celebration of Independence Day, we opened the atellier to a dozen children who came to paint.

Spring in July

Spring Porteña in July.

Then the winter in Buenos Aires, for a few hours became spring. Of course not for everyone, but for me it was. Accompanied by Marcela Corti, who despite his flu insisted that we go, we arrived at the National Museum of Fine Arts in the city of Buenos Aires. http://www.mnba.org.ar/

I did not know how it would react faced with the tables of teachers. Uncertainty is always an energy partner. We entered, against all the chronological development, in the first room on the right and i was looking a Pollock. There were his painting thick and bulky, overlapping, grey canvas, nails into the frame, there were small traces of creation and what I was seeing, only a few centimetres away.

I understood maybe a fan that turns, shouts and tantrum, runs out of breath in the presence of his idol, albeit only a singer passenger, only if they seeing the chair where he sat one day.

I could not avoid smiling; I could not pretend that i was happy to see that table, knowing that the creator had been at that table like me before my paintings. We looked and looked, smiled.

Of course, that those who have been in those rooms where entire giant museums are full of teachers, hardly understand my excitement before only a few works unknown to the world. But for me it was a real happy experience, a Christmas and birthdays at the same time, as the hot hug of the first date.

Marcela help me to move on from the Pollock achieved with a "there are more things to see." Smiling progress.

Two Modigliani. As melancholic.

Degas,

Monet,

Pissarro,

Toulouse Lautrec,

More Degas,

Renoir,

Sorolla;

Drawings of Cezanne,

van Ghog (where I sounded the alarm whit my finger, too close to the table contemplating the pencil sketch that was under some stealth brushstrokes)

Gauguin with that yellow.

There were more great painters of history.

Goya with its light

El Greco advanced.

Rembrant, we were there, watching this portrait, there we saw the teacher, the feeling of being far away, so unattainable. Sitting there, looking at the portrait of the sister of genius, I thought that it would not be able to paint anymore. Look to other activity. Perhaps together stamps or even better, follow soccer championship. That was the portrait itself Rembrant looking at us and watched us with his smile through the eyes of the table.

Board forces and continue. Fortunately we went through the upstairs where there is a sample of contemporary art. Gigantic work where I recover the spirit and think that some of those tables I could cover without remorse with any of mine works.

Before leaving I went back to the first tour of the Boards. I know that under the trail I passes in front of impressive paintings, sculptures valuable, but creations that do not know and therefore I could not appreciate. I can not see all the creation, as can’t read all the good books.

Sacrifice my taste under the axe of my ignorance and let me keep watching that I knew. Like in a amusement park, a running from a game to another, from one table to another.

At the end we left almost overnight. The city, the mundane, the colours contrasts real life that remained outside the bubble where we had been. Everything continued like as if there were no another world, that world that belongs to my mind.

Looking urban chaos, the melancholy of transmutation, the sky yellow. There was material for my happy work. My mind was still rolling on, and my desire to paint.

Otro Damian en la pared - Another Damian in the wall

A redoblar

A Redoblar (To redouble)

Once again I was invited to make a mural. This time was a job to the central house of MPP - FA (integral fraction of the current national government) from the city of Fray Bentos - Uruguay. The wall devoted to me, is an inside wall of 6 meters wide and 2.50 meters high.

I started working as soon as it arrives at Fray Bentos at 6 o'clock in the morning. Yet it was at night and was cold. While travelling with a sketch on an A4, always involves a challenge to face the blank wall. All the materials was prepared, so it was only a matter of jumping to emptied. As the morning progressed increase the heat and the number of visitors. Luckily I was able to get around 6 children between 6 and 15 years who helped me to paint the hub of colors that was arming itself.
On the night I went back to be alone and finished the first breakthrough at 9pm.

The next day morning I went back to finish the spaces that I had left blank. While one always has things you'd like to finish, tweak, adjust, I think the mural are ready to be shown.

The flags, numbers and slogans that can be seen correspond to the very roots of the FA and the current challenges it faces, thinking ahead.

The slogan "A redoblar”(redouble) corresponds to a historic song adopted by the FA.

A Redoblar (Att fördubbla)

Damian
